ACADEMIC APPEALS
All students who have been academically dismissed must submit an appeal to their program chair. The appeal must include:
  • an explanation of the circumstances that led to the dismissal
  • a plan that includes the steps the student will take to return to good standing
Students whose appeals have been denied by their program chair may submit a separate appeal to their program dean.

ATTENDANCE
All students must swipe their ID cards everyday their classes or labs are in session in order to receive credit for attendance.

NOTE:

  • Five consecutive absences from a class or lab may result in a course dismissal.
  • Five consecutive absences from all classes will lead to a dismissal from school.

Students will receive a written warning by mail of their potential dismissal. Failure to respond will lead to dismissal. All course and attendance dismissal appeal forms can be submitted to the Academic Records Coordinator in the Academic Office. All appeals must be approved by the program dean. Lost or broken ID cards can be replaced in Student Services.

ADD/DROP
Students may add classes to their schedule up until the Saturday of Week 1. All classes to be added must have approval from a program dean, advisor or chair. Classes can be dropped up until the Saturday of Week 2. Any class that has been dropped will not appear on a student transcript.

DEVELOPMENTAL COURSES
Students enrolled in a developmental class who do not successfully complete the course on the first attempt will be placed on academic probation (provided the student is not dismissed under another provision of academic policy). This includes withdrawing or failing a developmental class. If a developmental class is retaken and not passed, the student is dismissed.

HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS
All students attending DeVry University must provide proof of graduation from high school or its equivalent (such as GED). An official high school transcript indicating successful completion (with the graduation date) satisfies the requirement. A photocopy of an original transcript of diploma (called proof of grad, or POG), copied in Academics, will permit the student to register for first semester classes.

  • Failure to submit proof of grad (POG) prior to the end of week 1 of a student's first semester will result in dismissal.

  • Failure to submit an official transcript prior to registration for the subsequent semester will result in dismissal.

Students who have received a degree from a previous college may submit a copy of their official college transcript to fulfill the requirement.
