Library Resources and Services
Library resources support the curricular and research needs of the academic programs of DeVry University and DeVry University Metro DC Library patrons. These resources include:
General Resources: General resources in print are located on the first ten stacks beginning at the end of the library closest to the entrance. DeVry University Library uses the Library of Congress Classification System for cataloging resources. The classification system can be found at http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/lcco/lcco.html or in print format at the Circulation Desk.
General Reference Resources: General reference resources in print are located on the last stack at the end of the library closest to the emergency exit. The Reference books are non-circulating. They include the latest resources in the subject areas of the academic programs offered by DeVry University.
Electronic Databases: The Library maintains a selection of electronic databases accessible from the library student computers. Some databases are accessible from home, students can get information on off-site access from the Circulation Desk. The DeVry Library databases include Hoover's, FACCTS, ProQuest Databases, CorpTech, NetLibrary, Oxford English Dictionary and College Source.
Periodicals and Newspapers: Periodicals in print are shelved on the second to the last stack located at the end of the library closest to the emergency exit. Periodicals are shelved in alphabetical order with the most current issue on top. The most recent copies of "popular" magazines are shelved at the front of the library next to the entrance. Electronic full-text periodicals are accessible by computer through the University Library home page.

WWW Resources: The WWW Resources page serves the needs of faculty and students by providing "ready reference" information through the Internet. The page includes links to online dictionaries and encyclopedias, directories, biographical information, news, weather, style manuals, book reviews, almanacs and fact books, electronic texts, and other information that is available on the Internet. To ensure quality, a librarian periodically reviews each site.
Instructional Services
Consultations: The Librarian is available to offer individual consultations for faculty and students on specific research needs or strategies.
One-on-One Instruction: The Librarian is available by appointment to teach students and faculty how to use resources that are available in the library.
Bibliographic tools: The Library offers print and electronic resource guides, pathfinders, bibliographies and other materials to assist students and faculty in their research process.
Collaborative Teaching: The Librarian is available to collaborate with faculty to teach research strategies and resources pertinent to a specific course.
Library Orientation/Tours: The Library offers new student orientation and general tours by appointment.
Library Services
DeVry University Library offers the following services:
Computers: The Library is equipped with 30 student computers. These computers run Windows XP operating system and offer all Microsoft Office software. The library computers also offer all curriculum-based software that is currently used at DeVry University.
Printer: There is a printer available for student use in the library.
Copier: A student copier is available in the Library. Copies are $.05 per sheet and students may use cash or a copy card to make copies. Copy cards are available at the Circulation desk for $1.50 and have $1.00 worth of copies on them at time of purchase. Once purchased, students can add value to their copy card at any time using the Jamex machine located next to the copier.
Fax: The library does offer a fax machine for student use. The cost averages $.25 for the first page and $.10 per additional page.
Folders: Manila folders are available for sale at the circulation desk for $.10 each.
Reading Area: Students are encouraged to use the library during their free time between classes. There is seating available in the popular reading/magazines section.
Quiet Study Area: The Library does offer two conference rooms for group study as well as a "quiet study area" located at the rear of the library past the Reference Collection. Conference rooms can be reserved at the Circulation Desk.
